I’m an advocate for all eligible persons to exercise his or her right to vote. The vote can move on government for the better or lack of voting can move to a federal government shutdown. In fact, during the midterm congressional elections in 2010 only 28% of Virginia voters actually voted. At the time, there were over 3 million registered voters.

Will this federal government shutdown inspire you to vote? There is a race for Virginia governor, Lieutenant governor, Attorney General, 100 seats in the Virginia House of Delegates, Richmond Sheriff and other localities on Tuesday, November 5, 2013. Your governor is the head state, approves budgets for education, housing, healthcare and other services. The Lieutenant Governor is the President of the Senate in the Virginia General Assembly. The Attorney General is the governor’s attorney, the General Assembly’s attorney and the Commonwealth’s law firm. Members in the House of Delegates vote on all issues of concerns to state business, education, healthcare, justice, housing, etc.

How do we avoid a potential federal government shutdown again? VOTE! The midterm congressional elections is Tuesday, November 4, 2014. There are 435 United States House of Representative seats up for re-election and 33 of the 100 seats in the United States Senate.

Vote Up or power down your community. The vote is powerful as our federal government is shutdown, the first time in 17 years. Register to vote here or start the process of getting your rights restored for felony convictions here.
