Seattle Seahawks quarterback Russell Wilson holds the Vince Lombardi Trophy after winning Super Bowl XLVIII at MetLife Stadium on February 2, 2014 in East Rutherford, New Jersey. The Seahawks beat the Broncos 43-8.

Trenton, NJ — The Seattle Seahawks throttled the Denver Broncos, 43-8, to win Super Bowl XLVIII Sunday night in a matchup of the NFL¡¯s best defense vs. the league¡¯s best offense at MetLife Stadium in East Rutherford, N.J.

The game was a one-sided affair from the get-go. After the Seahawks won the coin toss (and elected to kick to the Broncos), the very first snap of the game to Peyton Manning went over his head. The ball went out of the back of the end zone for a safety and a 2-0 Seahawks lead. It took all of 12 seconds, the fastest anyone has gained a lead in Super Bowl history.
