Wow, Mom and Madea (rest her soul) would be in big trouble if they played in the NFL. If the accusations are true, Adrian Peterson is being excoriated for disciplining his son with a switch. Amid growing pressure from sponsors and the general public, the Minnesota Vikings reversed themselves and banned star running back Adrian Peterson. The running back is accused of beating his four-year-old son with a switch – a switch!
“While we were trying to make a balanced decision yesterday, after further reflection we have concluded that this resolution is best for the Vikings and for Adrian,” Zygi and Mark Wilf, the team owners, said in a statement published in the New York Times. “We want to be clear: we have a strong stance regarding the protection and welfare of children, and we want to be sure we get this right.”
I am also concerned about the welfare of children, but I want to know more. I was disciplined with a switch (had to pick it out myself), Dad’s favorite black belt and Mom’s brush. It wasn’t child abuse then and I’m not convinced it’s child abuse now.
