Henrico County, VA- Hospital officials at St. Mary’s Hospital have confirmed that seven out of 11 children admitted into the pediatric care unit two weeks ago have a form of Enterovirus. Federal laboratory tests of children treated at St. Mary’s Hospital showed they do in fact have a severe respiratory enterovirus called D-68. Results from tests on another 28 kids in Virginia have not yet returned.

There are no reported cases of adults contracting enterovirus.  Enterovirus is not airborne but is contracted by contact or touch.
