The 4th of July is the day dedicated to celebrating the independence of the United States. People all over the world get together to celebrate this day and let’s face it- to simply have a good time. Now with a day that is this nationally distinguished, here are a few do’s and don’ts to keep in mind.

DOs:

DO: Remember what city and state you are celebrating in! Fireworks are NOT legal everywhere. Check out the link to see what laws are enforced in your state.

DO: Have a designated driver with you in case your fun gets out of hand. DUI’s are more prone to occur on holidays. By having at least one sober person in your group, you will ultimately save hundreds.

DO: Make travel arrangements ahead of time, especially if you plan on going to well-known vacation spot. These areas get crowded quickly, so get there early! There WILL be traffic, so MapQuest some alternative directions to avoid major routes.

DON’TS:

DON’T: Don’t get too riled up for the 4th, that you forget that you have work the next day! Keep in mind that, unless you have requested off, you will still have show up and be productive at work tomorrow.

DON’T: Don’t engage in any illegal activities just because it’s your country’s birthday. Underage drinking and using drugs are STILL illegal and not worth the jail time and fines you WILL have to face.

DON’T: Lastly, don’t forget to have a good time. Holidays are supposed to be a day to kick back and relax with your friends and family. Enjoy this day!

Follow these few do’s and don’ts for this and every 4th of July and you are bound to have a memorable and safe holiday.
