Nashville, TN — Light Records continues to make an impact on the current gospel scene with several successful album releases in 2011. This week ARISE, the sophomore album from praise & worship groundbreaker William McDowell, continues to lead the Billboard Top Gospel Chart in the number 1 position.
Marking the fourth week in a row for McDowell, his accomplishment is due in large part to the success of the current radio single “I Won’t Go Back.” McDowell has traveled extensively nationally and internationally at powerful worship services spreading his God given messages of hope and encouragement. McDowell recently taped a TBN “Praise the Lord” special that will air in early 2012.
Also continuing to maintain good sales positioning is the debut release from breakthrough new artist Jessica Reedy. Reedy’s CD FROM THE HEART entered the Top Gospel chart at number one when it was released in September and has never dropped out of the Top 10.
This week FROM THE HEART jumped to Number 5 slot. Her success has been driven by her continued popularity from her standout performances on BET’s Sunday Best as well as recent national TV appearances on Bobby Jones Gospel and TBN. Reedy has been criss-crossing the country with performances while her single “Put It On The Altar” has been steadily climbing the radio charts. Reedy has also been tapped to perform on the 2012 Stellar Awards which tapes in January.
The Awards program celebrates Gospel’s biggest night and is schedule to air in national syndication starting in February and will have its exclusive cable airing on GMC, February 12, 2012.
Light Records has had an impressive 2011 with several celebrated releases including strong debuts from Ricky Dillard, Dawkins & Dawkins and Dorinda Clark-Cole.
The label has solid releases planned for 2012 including Light’s first project with F.I.Y.A. World Music, the James Fortune and F.I.Y.A. CD, IDENTITY planned for release January 17, 2012 and a new CD from JJ Hairston & Youthful Praise, PRAISE, THANKS & DECLARATION in stores in March. New albums from Bishop Paul Morton and Shirley Caesar are also expected in 2012.
