Richmond, VA — Virginia Union University’s (VUU) announced Monday that  Rev. Dr. Al Sharpton will speak at the school’s 113th commencement exercises on Saturday, May 12, 2012.

 

Sharpton, a radio and television talk show host, is the founder and president of the National Action Network (NAN).

 

Rear Admiral Barry C. Black (Ret) will speak Friday during VUU’s baccalaureate service.

 

Black is chaplain of the United States Senate, when he coordinates religious programs for Senators, their staffs, and their families. According to a press release from VUU, Black is the first African-American to hold the position of Senate Chaplain.

 

Baccalaureate will be held on Friday, May 11, 2012 at 6:00 p.m. in Coburn Hall.

Commencement May 12, 2012 at Hovey Field on the campus beginning at 10:00 a.m.
