Famed broadcaster, television game show host and producer, Dick Clark was best known as “America’s Oldest Teenager” has died at the age of 82.
Dick Clark had gone to Saint John’s Hospital in Santa Monica, California for an outpatient procedure on Tuesday and he died on Wednesday morning of an apparent heart attack.
Dick Clark Productions created American Bandstand which was the hottest dance show on television for decades. He created the Golden Globe Awards- the Emmys, TV Bloopers & Practical Jokes, the American Music Awards and Rockin’ New Year’s Eve.
American Bandstand was the first television dance show to feature black dancers.
I was watching this episode of American Bandstand when hip hop threesome RUN DMC was interviewed by Dick Clark in 1985. Remember this.
