Richmond, VA — Timothy Baptist Church, now known as New Timothy Baptist Church is getting a new home.
New Timothy Baptist was founded in September of 2010. The original church was located off of Leigh street in the late 1950’s. It was originally started by Rev. Lockett. Through the years it experienced a roller coaster of uncharted and unsorted history.
Timothy, which it was often commonly called, became known for hosting great Gospel Groups from neighboring Bible Belt states and from as far north as New Jersey. Timothy later moved from Leigh Street to 1 West Marshall Street.
In January 2010, Rev. Rodney L. Eaton accepted an invitation to preach at the church and continued to so until he was later named the permanent pastor and leader over the church.
Rev. Eaton was later installed as the church pastor in April 2010 by the Rev. Dr. A. Lincoln James of Trinity Baptist Church.
After discovering Timothy was not operating legally as a church, Pastor Eaton reformed and founded the church under its current new name, New Timothy Baptist Church Ministries in September in 2010.
On Sunday, April 22, 2012, Rev. Eaton and his congregation broke ground for their new church home during an official outdoor ceremony under a tent.
Despite the non-stop rain, strong support was visible, and the evening was blessed!
Now Rev. Eaton is getting set to host his first Saturday Woman’s Workshop on May 12th, 9am to 12noon with The Belle. Get ready to be inspired, laugh and encouraged with the ministry, God has birthed in you.
