Delegate Joseph “Joe” Morrissey is now licensed to practice law in Commonwealth of Virginia again. The Virginia Supreme Court reinstated Delegate Morrissey’s law license on Friday, April 27, 2012.

The Supreme Court voted 4-3 to reinstate Morrissey’s license, according to the Richmond Times-Dispatch. He had to meet certain requirements for reinstatement including passing the Virginia State Bar written essay and continuing 60 hours of legal education. Delegate Morrissey passed the February 2012 written examination and is continuing his legal education.

Delegate Morrissey’s law license was suspended in 2000 but he failed to notify his clients. In 2003, he lost the right to practice law in the Commonwealth of Virginia.

A Virginia State Bar Disciplinary Panel had petition the court to deny his reinstatement.

Delegate Morrissey shared with me that he is ‘anxious to get back in the courtroom and defend people like they need to be defended.”

Delegate Joe Morrissey, represents district 74, Virginia General Assembly, will re-open an Eastern Henrico County, Virginia law practice with a prominent political figure and strategist. Morrissey will make the announcements in ten days.
