By TBR — Chesapeake, VA – What a blessed night to be in the house of the Lord at The Mount, with Bishop K. W. Brown and Elder Valarie Brown for the kick off concert for Issachar Leadership Conference in Chesapeake, VA.

Truly displaying a praise and worship atmosphere, along with vendors and food galore, this was the first year that a kick off concert was included as apart of the conference. However I wouldn’t be surprised if they do again next year, because this was a night ordained by God.

Elder Brown opened the service with a warm welcome and a few announcements then quickly turned it over to the Issachar Praise Team.  The energy was high and stayed high as Minister of Music Earl Bynum later came to introduce the emcee for the evening, The Belle.

Without missing a beat, Elder Peggy Britt was called on to minister next and she truly gave everyone a glimpse of what Heaven sounds like.  Her vocals were impeccable, coupled with an anointing over her ministry that radiated throughout the church walls with powerful lyrics that had many on their feet and hands raised towards heaven.  After she performed, serenading the audience while playing the keyboard, and singing her signature song, “Closer Walk with Thee” it would be several minutes before anyone else was called to sing.  The presence of God was just that rich, thick and powerful with church members running, shouting and dancing across the floor.

Also singing for the opening night concert was Minister Earl Bynum and the Unity Choir.  Followed by a warm introduction, the church erupted with applause as they were reminded that Minister Bynum and The Mount Lebanon Unity Choir, were preparing for the release of their new CD, “Bless the Name of the Lord,” slated to hit store shelves on January 20, 2013.

Without missing a beat, Bynum and the Unity Choir, sang high praises to the Heavens with many in the congregation singing along.  They closed out by singing their new single, “Bless the Name of the Lord,” with VaShawn Mitchell’ later tweeting, that he liked it.

Wrapping up the evening was VaShawn Mitchell, who went in like a full tank of gas on a Hummer!  He ministered through song, wrapped around encouraging words that empowered many for the evening.  From his Traditional to Contemporary tunes, Mitchell couldn’t miss.  He performed a few of his top Billboard Hits, before singing “Nobody Greater” that he rearranged with the inclusion of several traditional tunes that had some of the saints swaying from side to side and sobbing before Lord.

This was an amazing kick off night with so much more to come for the rest of the week, including Grammy and Dove Award winner CeCe Winans singing on Monday night, along with Pastor Lance Watson preaching.
