Los Angeles, CA — Some things never change. After thirty plus years in the recording industry, singer and songwriter Marvin L. Winans, continues his long legacy of delivering good music and stamping it with his signature vocal style. Marvin Winans Presents: The Praise & Worship Experience rolls out with a presence in gospel and mainstream arenas. Winans’ collaboration of gospel heavy weights such as: Mary Mary, Donnie McClurkin and Marvin Sapp to name a few, finds itself sandwiched between R&B crooners Usher and Trey Songz. That’s the joy of New Media- it’s a level playing field for artists where it’s all about the music!
Winans’ son and CEO of MLW Productions Marvin Winans, Jr. says, “I’m happy to finally be a part of one of my Dad’s album releases in a capacity outside of a fan! We are receiving so much positive and immediate response from people, young and old, who still loves my dad’s music! We are #3 in iTunes R&B Album Charts after R. Kelly and Usher… that says something!”
The first single to drop, Draw Me Close/Thy Will be Done,” rests on R&R at #32 but from the looks of it won’t be there for long as it makes it way up the musical ladder. “’Draw Me Close’ is a praise and worship song that I fell in love with. It is a little different from what the Winans have done in the past, yet it draws you in because ‘Thy Will Be Done’ is a song I wrote as a teenager. To marry that with ‘Draw Me Close’ gives the composition a soulful twist, like sweet tea with a mint leaf,” states the pastor/singer.
With the Essence Music Festival days away, Winans who is never short on words, is set and ready to deliver the Sunday sermon and a possible song, at the ESSENCE Empowerment Experience All Star Gospel Salute on July 8 in New Orleans, l.A..
