Los Angeles, CA — Grammy Award® nominated recording artist, singer/songwriter, and South African transplant Jonathan Butler loves the people of his adopted hometown of Los Angeles. The city’s triumphs and tribulations influence his every day life. The people who have so warmly welcomed him from South Africa inspire him to dedicate time to giving back to the community in music and outreach.

While touring his new CD, Grace and Mercy, he has made a concerted effort to share his music at churches and events in he Los Angeles area where Butler resides.

 “I believe that God has a lot in store for me, and I’m heeding the call and obeying God by using my music in and outside the house of God,” said Butler. “I’m blessed to touch people’s lives and bring them to Christ.” 

Butler‘s stops included appearing as a special musical guest at Angeles Temple at The Dream Center, West Angelus COGIC, Los Angeles Praize Night, and at First AME Church of Los Angeles in support of the American Diabetes Association’s ID Day.

While visiting Angelus Temple at The Dream Center, Butler performed his single “I Stand On Your Word” with the church band during the worship set and “Falling In Love With Jesus” acoustically with guitar. Angelus Temple is a church open 24 hours a day, 365 days a year with a focus on serving others and community outreach. Pastor Matthew Barnett established Angelus Temple and The Dream Center to serve the inner city’s physical and spiritual needs and provide hope to the homeless, at-risk, and underserved in the community.

Butler participated in the American Diabetes Association’s ID Day on November 18 where he encouraged community and church members to get tested for Diabetesand bring awareness to the epidemic. Butler shared music at the First AME Church in Los Angeles and appeared in a special American Diabetes Association luncheon.

Racial segregation and poverty during Apartheid has been the subject of many of his records.
