A new report shows school segregation still exists in the Richmond area. This week the Civil Rights Project at UCLA released a report, “Miles to Go: A Report on School Segregation in Virginia, 1989-2010.”

A professor from VCU who helped co-produce the report reveals that one in every three black students in the Richmond-Petersburg region goes to a school that is 90 percent black and 75 percent poor. It also showed that ten percent of black students in that region go to public schools that contains 99 percent or more blacks. In that group, at least 85 percent of them are from low-income households.
