President Barack Obama plans to announce his plan on combating climate change today.

This plan includes the regulation of carbon-dioxide emissions from existing power plants and is aiming to direct his administration to allow enough renewables on public land that can support 6 million homes in 2020. By enacting this, the capacity from solar, wind, and geothermal projects would double in capacity. He also plans to significantly expand production of renewable energy on low-income housing sites.

None of these actions require congressional approval and this plan shows that Obama will not wait for lawmakers to act on climate change.

The speech unveiling the entirety of this plan will be presented at 1:35 pm at Georgetown University.
