Your attitude can determine your blessings, outcomes, and everyday life. Your attitude determines who we are and more importantly – who we will become! We will be tested on our attitude from time to time, but our attitude about the situation will illustrate how quickly we will get to our desired point in life. Our attitude is our outlook on life.

Colossians 3:23 “Whatever you do, work heartily, as for the Lord and not for men,” has always served as an encouraging verse throughout my life. When we are in the midst of working and we lose our focus, or become frustrated and tired, remembering our true reason and purpose is helpful.

Attitude is a matter of thinking, acting, and disposition. Attitude is our thought life turned inside out. People can see what’s on the inside of us and is evidenced in our outward appearance, expressions, and how we live our lives.

Interestingly enough, where and who you spend your time, can impact positively or negatively your overall attititude. As tough as it might be, there are times you have to evaluate the company that you keep. Surrounding yourself with positive minded people that speak positive messages, and offer encouragement is helpful. Being around people that are always negative and stuck in a rut, constantly spewing negative thoughts and discouraging words is toxic and should be carefully evaluated for continued involvement.

The state of attitude can create bondage that can keep us from our destiny, blessings and the life that the Lord wants for us. I was attending a workshop recently and the facilitator said “negative attitudes can be the blood clot in fresh flowing veins. If severe enough, blood clots can cut off blood flow to the heart and cause a complete shut down and be fatal.” When you consider the impact of a negative attitude on your life, you can understand the toxic impact on your life.

It’s a good idea to self assess your personal attitude. Here are five things to consider if you are suffering from a bad attitude.

5 ways to get rid of a bad attitude:

1. Understand no matter what the situation, it could always be worse.

2. The Lord will always allow opportunities to strengthen us through our experiences. Some of the greatest lessons and opportunities are born out of the some of the greatest trials.

3. Perspective is key, look for the best in every situation.

4. We all get in a slump from time to time. Recognize it immediately and shift. Choose to move quickly back to a positive thought process.

5. Believe! Believe your best is on its way.

Remember, everything you need, you already have; it was born in you.
