This week, Tyscot serviced the much-talked-about track “I Love You” to radio and it has quickly been added in rotation at several stations across the country. “I Love You” speaks of God’s endless love and Damita’s commitment to Him, no matter what life may bring. It won’t take long for radio listeners and Damita fans to catch on to the lyrics and melody.

In the song, she sings the heartfelt lyrics “When I need a shelter, I run to you, when I need help Lord, you bring me through and that’s why I love you”. “I Love You” is a great lead single for Damita’s much anticipated 2012 release.

What song do you think is missing from the playlist? Why?

For years, people have been running around with bracelets that say: “What would Jesus Do?”

When you think of Jesus Christ, do you think of him as “the weak, wishy washy, touchy feely Saviour” as he is often portrayed in the media? The Bible reveals the real Jesus—and He is quite different from what many imagine! Not only was Jesus’ message vastly different from what is commonly supposed; neither did He look anything at all like the traditional portraits in movie portrayals we see!

He was thoroughly masculine, commanding the respect and loyalty of young followers who were both successful and hard-working. On the one hand, He was prepared to walk boldly into the courtyard of the Temple with a plaited whip, drive the animals out and overthrow the tables of the moneychangers. On the other hand, He was moved with compassion for the sick and afflicted. Jesus surprised some of the pushy, aggressive young men who were His closest followers by taking time to hold infants in His arms and invoke God’s blessing on them (Luke 18:15–16).

Matthew 7:1, “Judge not, that you be not judged.” But beware; appearances can be deceiving. This famous saying of Jesus isn’t telling us not to judge. Here’s the rest of the passage:

For with the judgment you pronounce you will be judged, and with the measure you use it will be measured to you. Why do you see the speck that is in your brother’s eye, but do not notice the log that is in your own eye? Or how can you say to your brother, ‘Let me take the speck out of your eye,’ when there is the log in your own eye? You hypocrite, first take the log out of your own eye, and then you will see clearly to take the speck out of your brother’s eye.

The problem isn’t judging; it’s failing to judge oneself by the same standard. Jesus calls us to examine ourselves and repent of our own sin before we approach someone who is in error or in sin. He tells us to take the speck out of our brother’s eye – in effect, to judge them after critically judging ourselves. In judging, rebuking, or confronting we must avoid being a wimp, a jerk, or a coward. Wimps sit quietly in the pews, shaking their heads and hoping sin and false teaching will go away by itself. They allow these to destroy lives, families, and churches without lifting a finger. Wimps are strong on love, but weak on justice. Jerks know they’re right and they’re proud of it. They don’t distinguish between real problems and minor disagreements and enjoy pointing out everyone else’s errors and moral failings. These folks are strong on justice, but weak on love. Cowards, unlike wimps, are willing to judge sin and false teaching but, unlike jerks, are unwilling to confront those at fault. They lack the courage to confront the problematic person or group and instead spread dissension and mistrust under the radar. The tragedy of the coward is they end up being just as poisonous as the very thing they oppose. He casts out teachers who prophesy falsely in His name yet gives mercy to the repentant tax collector. This is the way of Jesus. He is suffering servant and glorious king. He was not a wimp who just accepted everything, a jerk who looked down on others, or a coward who was afraid to confront.

Kerry Douglas Celebrates His Birthday Online Monday

Kerry Douglas, the charismatic musical architect who drafted the astounding careers of gospel stars James Fortune and Earnest Pugh, is having an online birthday bash. It all goes down during “The Mr. Kerry Douglas and Brandy B Show,” an online radio program on the VoiceAmerica. A who’s who of gospel celebrities and personalities will be calling into the show to congratulate Douglas on another year of life and to sing happy birthday. The unscripted broadcast will feature on-the-spot singing, hilarious stories and conversation with the listening audience.

Douglas has a lot of good things to celebrate this birthday. His first film “Church Girl” will be released on DVD on January 31st. Are You Dating A Cheater?

Is the man you’re dating a potential cheater who will one day break your heart? Take this quiz and find out.

Like most singles who are dating, I’m sure you’ll want to avoid getting involved with a someone who’s likely to cheat. After all, he/she could one day break your heart. But according to statistics, an estimated 50 to 70 percent cheat on their mates. How can you tell if you’re dating is one of these potential cheaters?

Studies reveal that some men are more likely to cheat than others because of their background, their past history, or certain character traits. So before you fall head-over-heels in love or get too attached to that new man in your life, rate your date’s cheating potential with the 7 questions below:

Does he/she thrive on adventure?
Did he/sh have a great deal of sexual experience prior to your relationship?
Does he/she have lots of female friends?
Does he/shehave male friends who are cheating on their wives or girlfriends?
Does he/she have a parent who cheated?
Did he/she cheat in any of his past relationships?
Does he/she feel that infidelity is really no big deal?

Generally speaking, the more `yes’ answers, the greater the likelihood that the person will cheat. But some answers carry more weight than others, so you’ll want to take a closer look at the results.

If you answered yes to #1, #2, or #5 (but not all three), he/she’s a POTENTIAL CHEATER who may very well cheat on you if the opportunity presents itself. If you decide to get involved with him/her, you need to make it difficult for him to cheat. Familiarize yourself with the signs of infidelity, so you’ll know if he starts to stray.

If you answered yes to #3 or #4 alone, together, or in combination with #1 or #2, he/she’s a COMMON “GARDEN-VARIETY” CHEATER who will cheat if he feels he/she can do so without getting caught. Your challenge, if you insist on dating him/her, is to stay one step ahead by learning to recognize the early warning signs. If you know how to spot the signs of impending infidelity, you may be able to stop the cheating before it starts, or leave before they break your heart. Familiarize yourself with the 21 major categories of telltale signs.

If you answered yes to #6 alone or in combination with #1,#2, #3, #4, or #5 you’re dealing with an EXPERIENCED CHEATER who knows how to hide the obvious signs of infidelity. The most important thing to do if you’re dating this man is learn to spot the subtle signs of infidelity, because these are the signs that will inevitably give him away. Get a good infidelity reference guide, watch him like a hawk, and try not to get too deeply involved.

If you answered yes to #7 alone ( This one’s the biggie!) or in combination with any others, you’ve got a HARD-CORE, HABITUAL CHEATER on your hands who’s probably already having an affair. For this person, cheating is a way of life. If you don’t want to become an infidelity statistic, leave this one alone. Should you decide to take on this challenge, you’re in serious trouble if you don’t know how to spot the subtle signs of infidelity. Forget about watching for the usual signs of cheating. This person is an expert at covering his tracks. The best thing you can do is become adept at spotting the subtle signs of infidelity, since there won’t be any obvious signs to give them away.

Tim Bowman Jr. Continues Winans Legacy By Fusing Pop & Gospel

America first noticed gospel music legend Vickie Winans’ nephew Tim Bowman Jr. when he scatted on the vamp of her 2009 Top 10 radio smash, “How I Got Over.” However, the gifted 22-year old Wayne State University pharmacy student is no longer singing in the background. The son of #1 smooth jazz guitarist Tim Bowman, Bowman is putting the finishing touches on his first solo CD, Beautiful. The thirteen-track set releases April 10, 2012 via I.M. Records, Trippin N’ Rhythm and Sony Red Distribution.

Bowman, whose vocal influences range from a variety of gospel artists to Coldplay, Michael Jackson and Ella Fitzgerald, is poised to shake up the sacred music genre. His unique blend of rhythms would easily fit in on a Top 40 radio music playlist as it would in a Sunday morning church service. The sounds range from pulsating electronica tracks such as “Throw It Away” and “I’m Here” to raw gospel like the riveting, “Abide With Me Medley” that was produced by Marvin Winans of the Grammy Award winning Winans vocal group. In between, there’s the Caribbean rumba of “Looking For Love,” the rousing rock-edged anthem “Healer” and the acoustic guitar-laced ballad, “Beautiful.” Family friend, Dorinda Clark Cole of the legendary Clark Sisters, joins Bowman on the funky “Sunday Morning” while Vickie Winans jazzes up the mid-tempo, “He Will.”

“He Will” is the forthcoming CD’s first single. For the last six months, it has steadily built momentum at gospel radio and creating a strong foundation for Bowman’s career longevity. The tune has peaked at #20 on Billboard’s Hot Gospel Songs chart and #18 on the Mediabase Gospel chart thus far and continues to make new believers out of radio programmers. “It’s gonna be a busy year for Tim Bowman Jr.,” says Pat Butler, afternoon drive and music director for WEXL 1340-AM, a gospel radio station in Detroit. “Born to make great gospel music, he continues to bring a fresh sound to Urban Gospel.” Bowman says in reflecting on the purpose in his music that, “Each song should stand alone. Sometimes, you only have one chance for a person to hear and connect with your message. I want every person who listens to this album to not only get that message but also to feel the FUN I had making it.”
