Ernestine Shepherd: Oldest Female Body Builder. You’ve got to see this lady! She will be 76 years old in June and still competes in Body Building Contest. She runs 80 miles a week and is a personal trainer.

Recently inducted into the Guinness Book of World Records for the oldest competitive female body builder, Ernestine Shepherd began pumping iron when she was in her fifties. Now, she uses her life and flex appeal to be an ageless inspiration.

Terrie M. Williams is an amazing woman/author/sociologist who speaks about mental health from personal experience.

“Terrie Williams knows that Black people are hurting. She knows because she’s one of them. Terrie has made it: she had launched her own public relations company with such clients as Eddie Murphy and Johnnie Cochrane. Yet she was in constant pain, waking up in terror, overeating in search of relief. For thirty years she kept on her game face of success, exhausting herself daily to satisfy her client’s needs while neglecting her own. Terrie finally collapsed, staying in bed for days. She had no clue what was wrong or if there was a way out. She had hit rock bottom and she needed and got help. She learned her problem had a name — depression — and that many suffered from it, limping through their days, hiding their hurt. As she healed, her mission becam e clear: break the silence of this crippling taboo and help those who suffer. Black Pain identifies emotional pain — which uniquely and profoundly affects the Black experience — as the root of lashing out through desperate acts of crime, violence, drug and alcohol abuse, eating disorders, workaholism, and addiction to shopping, gambling, and sex. Few realize these destructive acts are symptoms of our inner sorrow.”

Tevera D. Stith was born and raised in Baltimore, Maryland. She was raised by her mother and grandparents to put God first and live by the golden rule. These most important lessons are perhaps what geared her toward a career in education. Ms. Stith began her career in college admissions at the College of William and Mary where she also earned a B.A. in History. She left the College of William and Mary after two years to serve as Associate Director of Admissions at Kenyon College. After Kenyon, she joined the Office of Admissions at Swarthmore College where she also served as Associate Director and led the college’s multicultural recruitment efforts. Following her time at Swarthmore, Ms. Stith fulfilled a professional and personal goal by returning to her high school alma mater, St. Paul’s School for Girls, as Director of College Counseling. While at St. Paul’s Ms. Stith received several awards for her service to the community and commitment to the student body. She served in that role for eight years before coming to KIPP DC as the Director of the KIPP Through College in January, 2012. Ms. Stith has served as a national delegate for the National Association for College Admission Counseling and has also presented several times at their national conference. Ms. Stith lends her time and experience to many organizations and non-profits who support first generation and underrepresented students going to college. She truly believes that every child should have the opportunity to go to college and has made it her life’s mission. When Ms. Stith isn’t helping to guide KIPPsters and other students to and through college, you can find her in the kitchen! She loves to cook and can tell you how best to broil, bake, sauté, or fry nearly anything!

Dr. Lance Watson on “Wisdom”

Dr. Lance Watson, Pastor of St. Paul’s Baptist Church and one of the most popular pastors in the country will speak on “Wisdom.”

BIO: Dr. Lance D. Watson is a three time Summa Cum Laude graduate of Wayne State University in Detroit, Michigan from which he holds the Bachelor of Science in Psychology, the Bachelor of Arts in Philosophy and the Master of Arts in Guidance and Counseling.

He is a Magna Cum Laude Graduate of the Samuel DeWitt Proctor School of Theology at Virginia Union University from which he holds a Master of Divinity and a Summa Cum Laude Graduate of the Presbyterian School of Christian Education at Union Theological Seminary in Richmond, Virginia. He completed his doctoral studies at United Theological Seminary earning the doctorate of ministry degree.

His achievements and recognitions are noteworthy. He has been honored as an Outstanding Contributor to Education, an Outstanding Communicator and Minister of the Year, as well as an African American Role Model by several organizations. He is listed in Who’s Who in Religion and a member of the Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity.

He serves as Senior Pastor of the Saint Paul’s Baptist Church of Richmond, Virginia and chief visionary for its corporate affiliates, Destiny Child Development Center, Destiny Christian Academy, Destiny Center for the Performing Arts, Charisma Books and Gifts, Saint Paul’s Federal Credit Union, Saint Paul’s Community Foundation, NIA, Inc. of Greater Richmond and Positive Power Media Group.

He is host of the telecast “Positive Power” seen nationally on TV ONE Network. Saint Paul’s has been noted by the Virginia General Baptist Association as one of the fastest growing churches in Virginia and as one of the fastest growing churches in the nation by Outreach Magazine.

This young, progressive and forward-looking congregation for “People On the Grow” serves as the spiritual home for more than 12,000 persons and supports mission and ministry causes around the globe. Saint Paul’s has acquired almost 400 acres of land with plans to construct “The City of Possibility,” a master planned community that will feature multiple residential neighborhoods, commercial, retail and office spaces, a park, an elementary school and a community life facility.

Saint Paul’s has already completed Phase 1 of this development with the construction of six buildings totaling 125,000+ square feet to house its expanded ministry, mission and media operations. Saint Paul’s is a multi-site ministry with three locations and plans underway to open an additional location in the near future.

Born in Detroit, Michigan, he is married to Rosemary Wilder, a noted and world traveled singer, and together they parent three children. A gifted communicator, life coach, teacher and author; he is featured in “Courageous Church Leadership: Conversations with Effective Practitioners” and “African American Sermons”.

His own works have been featured in the African American Pulpit, the Baptist Herald and several other publications.
