Togetherville, a social networking site for children ages 6 – 10 was launched to try to combat young children from signing up for Facebook. Children under the age of 13 aren’t permitted to sign up for Facebook, but it’s nearly impossible to stop without parental control. CEO and co-founder Mandeep Dhillon created Togetherville to give parents and their children a safer alternative to social networking instead of the “Book.”
The free site allows parents to create accounts for their children through their own Facebook login. They can then have complete access and control over their child’s Togetherville account and even approve or reject certain friends.
The adults participate directly,” said Dhillon, who has three kids of her own (Ages 8, 5, and 2). “Which is why this is not a digital babysitter.”
The site also has Facebook style status updates, games, pre-screened YouTube videos and other activities, such as educational applications. Parents can also send virtual gifts, and their are no ads. To learn more about network visit Togetherville.com
