I have never been one for making resolutions. I don’t believe in them. They only lead to disappointment three weeks into January when you figure out that you haven’t kept any. There is a real reason why they do not work. You don’t want them to.

Okay, before you get angry with me, let me tell you why I say this. Resolutions are promises made with the best of intentions. The problem is the word “intention“. Unless you make a concrete plan for acting out a resolution, there isn’t a success. I have enacted a plan to do the following this year. I hope some of my plans for 2010 can help you.

We all have friends and family who set these unrealistic goals and promises for themselves at the end of each year. You should set goals that can be reached with small steps. Here are a few ideas to help you out

1-     Get to Gym. I have created a great gym bag with great supplies. I have a nice water bottle, great earphones and wonderful smelling shower supplies.

2-     Cook Healthy. I have purchased a 30 minute Rachel Ray cookbook. It allows me to make a great tasting meal in 30 minutes and will keep me inspired when I get home from work.

3-     See Friends. I have started scheduling appointments with friends to do fun stuff. You can schedule a nail appointment with friend. Guys get to the basketball court with a few friends.

4-     Make new Friends. Join a book club. If a book club is not your speed, Guys join one of the professionals basketball and soft ball teams.

The true key to a new year is that it is the  beginning of a new slate with clean ideas and the chance to begin again. Don’t get disappointed and give up either. That’s what happens to resolutions. You fall down and give up. Just keep trying.

Happy New Year and may 2010 bring you abundant blessings.
