What a way to start the school year off as Henrico Police have taken a juvenile into custody after Glen Allen High School was put on lockdown for reports of a possibly armed distraught student.

Police officials tell us the arrest was made off the school ground property.

Officials put the campus on lockdown around 12:15 p.m. as a precaution, though they say the possibly distraught student was never spotted at the school.  Around 2:30p.m.  police lifted the Lockdown.

Dozens of police cars are still at the school, including the county’s SWAT unit.

Police continue to ask concerned parents not to head to the school. They are instead being directed to the Cross Ridge Shopping Center on Staples Mill Road.

The school system and police will release more information soon about dismissal.
