War Room’s” success was one of the only bright spots in an otherwise flat film weekend at the multiplexes. Overall ticket sales are still being calculated, but it is shaping up to be one of the worst Labor Day holidays over the past decade. The $3 million production from brothers Alex Kendrick and Stephen Kendrick brought in $12.6 million over the four-day holiday. The film has earned $27.9 million and is on track to be the biggest hit of the Kendricks’ careers.

The film offered family audiences a chance to see a film that positively reflects good values. There are two reasons that this film succeeded and surpassed  its successors  ‘God Is Not Dead‘, ‘Heaven Is Real‘, ‘Courageous‘ and ‘Fireproof ‘.

#1- Prayer is the main theme of the plot which involves the troubled marriage between real-estate broker Elizabeth (Priscilla C. Shirer, a prominent Christian speaker and author making her film debut) and Tony (T.C. Stallings), a successful pharmaceutical rep. Tony, so bulked-up that he appears to be dipping into his company’s steroids, has little use for his wife, telling a friend “I’m just tired of her,” and pays little attention to the couple’s adorable 10-year-old daughter Danielle (Alena Pitts).

#2 -‘ War Room’ reflects the real life challenges and temptations of a professional African American family and how elders  are to guiding a family.  In the film, Elizabeth is  increasingly distraught over her husband’s emotional abuse. She finds her life changed when she meets her latest client, Miss Clara (Karen Abercrombie), an elderly widow who advises her that the only way she can mend her husband’s errant ways is by praying to God for help. Miss Clara gives her the sense of belonging that technology has slowly eroded.

Enjoy this fun scene featuring a father (T.C. Stallings ) enjoying time with his daughter and her friend (Alena Pitts and Jadin Alexis Harris).
