In efforts to close the achievement, Bellwood Elementary School in Chesterfield County is switching to a year-round calendar. The State Board of Education fast-tracked an approval yesterday for the move. Local administrators said the plan will help avoid what they call summer learning loss or reducing the ‘summer slide’ that primarily serves families with economic challenges. The year-round school calendar will start July 23 this summer.
