The U.S. Fourth Circuit Court of Appeals is halting construction on the controversial Atlantic Coast Pipeline. The judge panel shut down construction on Tuesday after discovering the U.S. Fish and Wildlife’s permit was inadequate. Officials say the agency rushed the approval process under intense political pressure. The pipeline would run from West Virginia to eastern North Carolina and through Virginia. Environmentalists have been protesting the pipeline, say would hurt rare species in the area.
