Governor Ralph Northam stopped by the Radio One Richmond headquarters to kick off the twelfth annual Send A Kid to Camp radiothon with News and Public Affairs Director, Community Clovia.
The Governor recalled fond memories of camp from his own childhood. He also made a donation and even took the time to man the phones.

Each year the radiothon raises money to help send Richmond’s youth to attend both summer and after-school programs. From 8 AM – 8 PM listeners were encouraged to call in with donations and were allowed to request a song to be played on-air.
The event is in loving memory of Community Clovia’s godson, Alexander Lance Booker. Alex loved going to camp. Tragically, he died while at-play in 2007. Alex would have been twenty-four years old this year. His spirit lives on through his mother Kim Jones-Booker, co-founder of the Send A Kid To Camp initiative.
