The National Weather Service has issued a new forecast for the weekend weather, including snow projections for the Richmond area.
A winter storm watch the weather service posted shortly before daybreak today says a system that’s expected to move across the capital area from tomorrow evening through Saturday afternoon “will have the potential” to produce 3 to 8 inches of snow.
The weather service says the highest amounts are expected to the south of the watch area. Richmond is at the far northern tip of a watch area that extends as far south as Lunenburg County.
The weather service also says minor changes in the storm track and intensity — and subsequent forecast adjustments — are likely in the next day or so.
