We hear that a preliminary round of industry news has revealed the arrival of one of gospel music’s favorite televised events has returned for an 11th year of production and broadcasting. That’s right, we’re referring to the Celebration of Gospel on BET, hosted by comedian/radio host/actor Steve Harvey and held in Los Angeles and filmed for TV in early December. Insiders are keeping very tight lips on the setlist and the evening’s featured performances, but a good friend of ours has let us know that a trio of hotter than hot divas in both the R&B and gospel world are going to grace the stage together and ultimately shut it down!

Still can’t guess who it is? Let us go right ahead and be the first to let you know that word is circulating and quickly picking up some momentum. Faith Evans, Kelly Price and Jessica Reedy (Light Records, BET Sunday Best) are teaming up once again to perform their current hit “Troubled World,” a song that appeared late this summer and was brought to you exclusively on praiserichmond.com (See Faith Evans, Kelly Price & Jessica Reedy Sing of a “Troubled World” on New Single.)

What’s interesting about this performance is its timing. Each of the ladies are heavy on the promo trail for their current projects. Faith just released her new album Something About Faith in September while Kelly’s been on the road like crazy singing her face off on “Tired,” the lead single from her upcoming album Kelly. And then there’s the newcomer Jessica who just recently signed to Light Records and might have her debut project ready as soon as the beginning of second quarter 2011. They all need this spotlight, but I think what’s more important is seeing them do this all together. The divas of the old school (I hate that 90s R&B is now considered “old school”) teaching the new cats what’s real, what’s authentic and what’s respected.

So without giving away too much of the show, we want to know what you think of this news so far. We didn’t want to give away all of our goodies so until the lineup is officially confirmed, guess what? That’s all you’re getting from us! Just kidding, but seriously, let us know if you and your family are looking forward to this year’s Celebration of Gospel. Who are you excited to see? Who do you think should be on the main stage?
