Once again  gospel singer Vashawn Mitchell proves why he will be around for a long time. He was born and raised in Chicago,IL. The city known as the birth place of Gospel music quickly made its imprint on him. When he was barely a teenager, VaShawn became the assistant music director of St. Mark Baptist Church, working closely with nationally renowned choir leader Lonnie Hunter. Mitchell’s understanding of his community, and even deeper faith, go back to his upbringing around Chicago, where his grandparents raised him primarily in Harvey. Lonnie Hunter, who was the minister of music at St. Mark Missionary Baptist Church in Harvey, noticed early on that Mitchell “didn’t have a lot of positive male role models” and became a big brother to him while he was singing in a children’s choir. It has lead to the video you about to watch.
