Usher Raymond is set to receive the Philanthropy Freedom Award from the National Civil Rights Museum in Memphis.

The Freedom Awards honor individuals who work for justice, equality, philanthropy, civil and human rights and humanitarian causes.

Facing Death With Fashion In Mind

The R&B singer is being recognized for the work he does through his New Look Foundation, which certifies youth in four categories — talent, education, career and service to promote leadership. The foundation has also raised money for a number of natural disasters including Hurricane Katrina and Haiti.

Usher will be honored alongside this year’s other winners including Dr. Bill Frist, Bill Russell and Cicely Tyson on Nov. 12.
