A Chesterfield coach for a youth soccer team is in jail after facing charges of inappropriately touching and texting a young boy.

Joseph Crespo, 22, confessed to the charges and turned himself in on Thursday. He used to coach at XL Sports World and at Clover Hill School, with a junior varsity team.

These allegations began when the mother of a child on the team found suspicious texts on her son’s phone. After that, the boy told her what had transpired between him and the coach.

Investigators state that Crespo met the boy at XL Sports World. He took the child to a soccer game, outside of the organization. During the ride home, Crespo’s accused of inappropriately touching the boy over his clothing.

Crespo faces charges of aggravated sexual battery and taking indecent liberties with a child.

He’s no longer employed to coach soccer at XL Sports World, or with Chesterfield schools. He is currently being held at Riverside Regional Jail, without bond.
