The Washington Football Team fired Mike Shanahan on Monday morning, following the Skins loss to the Giants on Sunday. The Skins finished what was supposed to be another playoff-bound season a disappointing 3-13. The Skins were 24-40 under Shanahan.

Washington Football Team fans deserve a better result,” owner Dan Snyder said in a statement released by the team and published on ESPN.com. “We thank Mike for his efforts on behalf of the Washington Football Team. We will focus on what it takes to build a winning team, and my pledge to this organization and to this community is to continue to commit the resources and talent necessary to put this team back in the playoffs.”

Detroit, Tampa Bay, Minnesota and Cleveland also fired their head coaches.
