Richmond city officials are helping local citizens beat the heat with cooling stations.  When the temperature is forecasted for 95 degrees or more, the shelters open.  They are located at:  Southside Community Center, 4100 Hull St Road;  Dept of Social Services, 900 East Marshall St, and the East District Center 701 North 25th Street.  Water will be provided.  No pets allowed unless they are service animals.  For more information, call the Dept. of Social Services at 804-646-7046.

In Petersburg, there is a cooling station at the Petersburg Station 100 W.  Washington Street.  It’s open from 12 noon – 7pm.  Drink plenty of water and stay cool!!
