All White Jury Reaches Verdict In Civil Rights Suit

In Pittsburg, three white officers who violently beat up a black art student were found guilty of false arrest but innocent of using excessive force…dumbfounding many that were following this case.

An all white jury made up of  four white men and four white women reached a split decision in the false arrest and beating of 22 yr-old Jordan Miles, yet awarded him $101,000 in compensative damages plus $6,000 from each officer in punitive damages for acting “maliciously and wantonly.”
