Vickie Winans to Kick Off New Season of BET’S “Bobby Jones Gospel” and

Earns Grammy and NAACP Image Nominations

For Latest CD Entitled “HOW I GOT OVER!”

The Hardest Working Woman in Gospel, Vickie Winans, is set to kick-off the new season of BET’s “Bobby Jones Gospel” this Sunday, January 10, 2010 @ 9:00 AM EST. On the show Winans and her nephew Tim Bowman Jr. perform their smash hit “How I Got Over” that is currently #3 with a bullet on Billboard’s Hot Gospel Songs chart. Also featured on the program is Smokie Norful and “Sunday Best” contestant Jessica Reedy.

Winans is everywhere over the next few weeks.  Later in the month, she will co-host the 25th Annual Stellar Awards and will also perform on BET’s popular late night program, “The Mo’Nique Show.”

Aside from her nine Stellar Award nominations (the most by a female in the history of the show) for her latest CD, Winans has also snagged a Grammy and an NAACP Image Award nomination for “How I Got Over.”  The 52nd Annual Grammy Awards will broadcast live January 31, 2010 @ 8:00 PM EST on the CBS Network. The 41st Annual NAACP Image Awards will air live on February 26, 2010 on the FOX Network.

The self-managed artist is also a successful businesswoman who owns a jewelry store,  Accents by Vickie Winans in the suburbs of Detroit, MI.  Winans burst on the gospel music scene in 1985 with her signature smash “We Shall Behold Him.” She’s remained one of gospel music’s Top 10 artists with appearances on NBC Today and Oprah. She has appeared on the cover of Jet magazine, served as celebrity spokesperson for Daimler-Chrysler and Quaker Oats. Other hits include #1 songs “As Long As I Got King Jesus”, “Shake Yourself Loose” and “The Rainbow.”
