In celebration of Black History Month, GRTC is dedicating Feb. 24th 2015 to civil rights pioneer Rosa Parks.
On Dec. 1st, 1955, Rosa Parks refused to give up her bus seat to a white passenger, leading to her being arrested and jailed. Days later, the infamous year-long bus boycott began resulting in the Supreme Court ruling that segregation on public transportation was illegal.
Today, GRTC is honoring Parks by reserving the front seat on every GRTC bus and show tribute on bus signs in celebration of Black History.
