Ferguson Prisoner Brutality Beaten By Police Wins Appeal

You might remember that crazy story of a Ferguson man being charged with destruction of property after he bled on the uniforms of the police officers who beat him. A federal district court tried to block Davis from suing because it ruled his injuries weren’t serious enough and maintained that the cops could be granted immunity for acting within their discretion. However, Davis’ attorney and an appeals court countered that such immunity can’t be granted to acts of “malice” or “bad faith.” Once Michael Brown’s case brought national attention to Ferguson and its police department started being subjected to investigations, the appeals court reversed the lower court’s previous decision on Davis’ charges.
