It’s official!

A panel of three judges ruled on Thursday that Virginia’s 12 House of Delegates districts are constitutional. A panel was asked to rule on constitutional maps in several districts because it was twice discovered that Republicans packed black voters into the Third District, diluting their voting power. The panel of judges ruled that the districts do not break any laws, which has prompted Democrats to likely appeal to the U.S. Supreme Court. Republicans already appealed to the Supreme Court after an earlier ruling in favor of Democrats by another federal court.

Virginia’s general election for 100 seats in the House and 40 seats in the Senate is Tuesday, November 3, 2015.

The presidential, mayoral and other local races will be held next year. The presidential primary is Tuesday, March 1, 2016 and the general election is Tuesday, November 8, 2016.
