While Mo’Nique claims she “still loves” Steve Harvey, that didn’t stop her from insinuating that the talk show host may be selling out and encouraging her to do the same.
Over the weekend, the Oscar winner posted a clip of her sit-down with Harvey where they debated integrity versus playing the game. However, the creator of this mashup video, the_1hundred_club, added a little twist by captioning the video with the title, “Selling Out” and underneath it, defining that term.
“A common idiomatic pejorative expression for the compromising of a person’s integrity, morality, authenticity, or principles in exchange for personal gain, such as money. In terms of music or art, selling out is associated with attempts to tailor material to a mainstream or commercial audience.”
That’s not all though.
The video is also spliced with footage of the 1977 iconic miniseries Roots depicting a scene between Kunta Kinte (LeVar Burton) being taught how to be a “good slave” by Fiddler (Louis Gossett Jr.).
Take a look for yourself:
Mo captions her post with the following: “THIS GAVE ME CHILLS! WHAT HAS CHANGED!!! Y’all I LOVE US 4 REAL!!! WE DESERVE TO LOVE US BETTER!”
“I’ve got to slow down when I’m talking,” Harvey told the publication, adding, “I can’t get into heated discussions, and I’ve got to just guard my words more carefully.”
Harvey also admitted that he regrets how the entire integrity conversation went down, which made others doubt his own integrity.
“I take full responsibility for it, it came out my mouth, so I can’t say that I didn’t say it,” Harvey said.
“But to people that really know me, I have lived my whole life as a man of integrity. So when I was referring to ‘integrity’ in that interview, I was talking about the method in which things were being done, and that is all it was.”
BEAUTIES: Do you think Mo is making a good point or is she way off?

Steve Harvey is admitting Mo’Nique’s been telling the truth the entire time, but his point is you have to shuck and jive for these white folks money, integrity be damned.

And Steve Harvey over talking her is very indicative of his advice.— George M Johnson (@IamGMJohnson) February 13, 2019
He is literally telling her to sell out and not have any integrity. That may secure the bag, but it won’t keep it.
Aren’t there rumbling of them cancelling his show...how’d that work out for you?

Monique couldn't get a WORD out without Steve Harvey talking her and he did it so well like he's perfected the art of it. He's used to it, used to getting away with it, and made Monique look like an "angry black woman"

I wish deep in my soul that Mo'Nique would have slapped the shit out of Steve Harvey.— BreYonna (@_ItsMissBre) February 13, 2019
But then she would be deemed even more 'difficult'. Meanwhile, she ain't difficult, she just has a lot more integrity. Everybody ain't willing to subscribe to 'that's just the way shit is'

Steve Harvey is trying to justify the selling out he’s probably had to do by the way he’s acting here.— her name is cyn. (@cynfinite) February 13, 2019
It hurts to see someone so adamant on standing her ground with this industry when he spent years feeling like he couldn’t. It’s a slap. https://t.co/H4mccIURel

Steve Harvey is at the point where he doesn't have to tap dance anymore. At any given time of the day his face is on someone's television station. He's putting on tap shoes because he wants to— Brown Butter Evangelist (@krysilove) February 13, 2019

@IAmSteveHarvey only cares about generational wealth and being the median between White power and Black assimilation to White power. He's the dad that says get a job with Apple instead of backing you to create Orange. 😬🙄✌ https://t.co/ETXjASoL5p— Support Kids with ASD🥰 (@Quote_me_on_it) February 13, 2019
