“Can we truly say as a nation that weâre meeting our obligations? Can we honestly say that weâre doing enough to keep our children all of them safe from harm. Can we claim as a nation that weâre altogether there, letting them know that theyâre loved and teaching them to love in return?”
Obama answered his own questions saying no, that we are not doing enough to protect our children. He said it was time to put politics aside. He vowed to use the power of the presidency to help prevent these types of tragedies from happening again. Obama said it was time to stop letting excuses prevent us from keeping our children safer.
“We canât tolerate this anymore,” Obama said. “These tragedies must end. To end them we must change. We canât accept events like this as routine.”
