Exclusive – Philadelphia, PA — TBR – When it comes to making movies, anyone in the business will tell you, it’s not as easy as you think. Specifically some even believe that the movie business is teetering on the edge, however there are still a few who believe with the right combination including a good script, actors, producers and Director, the show can still go on and even become a Box Office Hit.
That is the hope and belief of Hollywood’s next up and coming Movie Director Joshua Coates. Born and raised in Philadelphia, PA, Coates has been a film junkie for most of his life and understands the power of the Silver Screen.
His Creativity and never die attitude was passed down from his father Maurice Coates who was the foundering member of the hit Philadelphia R&B Group Brenda & the Tabulations of the late 60’s. However, it is to his spiritual parents, Shepherd Mother Elaine Cobb (Head Quarters Church Of God In Philadelphia) who discovered and helped develop his abilities in the performing arts, and presiding Bishop, Bishop Henry A. Cobb (Head Quarters Church Of God In Philadelphia) who brought him up in the Gospel that Joshua Coates gives credit and recognition to for the success he is today.
In 1996, while attending Philadelphia’s High School of Creative and performing Arts, Joshua Discovered the art of film making and theater Production. His love for movie making grew rapidly as he spent countless hours after school on editing machines learning and perfecting his craft.
Since High School, Coates has written and directed several films including “GAME”, “THE CALLED”, a Faith base Independent Film that got him Local Recognition from the Church Community and the Trinity Broad Casting Network (TBN) and “THE JENAE SO IN LOVE” . In 2010 Coates wrote directed and produced his first mainstream Motion Picture entitled INIQUITY inspired by the biblical account of David and Bathsheba that was released on DVD and VOD at Wal-Mart’s nationwide on March 26th 2013.

Now just over a year later, Coates has partnered with movie veteran Mark Lipsky who has Executive produced as well as produced classic films such as “Harlem Nights” “Coming to America, Boomerang, Beverly Hills Cop 3 & The Nutty Professor.
The film is currently in pre-production with its first Table reading held in North Philadelphia earlier this week. Presented by 20/20 Visions Entertainment and WOF Entertainment, the private gathering of approximately thirty actors was hosted by Director Joshua Coates, Executive Producers Mark Lipsky, RJ Konner, Robert Aqueli and David Housel.
Those who traveled to be on site for the private script reading, all believe THIS WILL BE THE FILM that will cause Hollywood and many others to think twice about many things.
Coates says, “It is our hope that this partnership between our Production team and Cast will lead to one of the biggest Block Busters ever to hit the Silver Screen.”
Look for “For Thine Is The Kingdom” to hit theaters in 2015.
