The Civil Rights Act of 1964 was signed into law by President Lyndon Baines Johnson (LBJ) on July 2, 1964. The legislation was crafted by President John F. Kennedy prior to his assassination in November of 1963. Despite resistance by members in Congress and the community the bill passed forever changing the future of Black America.
