TBR — Los Angeles, CA –The Oscar Nominations were announced Thursday morning and not making the list to the surprise of many in the category of Best Director was Ava DuVernay.

The timing of this couldn’t be worse as DuVernay, one of the most celebrated Directors out here today is highly in demand and is one of only a hand full of top female directors in the country, let alone as an African American. But just like Hollywood, it once again denied history, by not nominating DuVernay.

Also not nominated was the star of SELMA, David Oyelowo who delivered an amazing portrayal of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr.

However there was some good news. SELMA did receive a nomination for Best Picture and for Best Song, performed by Common and John Legend.

But as for the top major acting categories, including; Actor in a Leading Role, Actress in a Leading Role, Actor in a Supporting Role, and Actress in a Supporting Role, only white actor received nominations.

Hopefully the Oscars and the powers that be, will not have any affect on how the world views the movie, SELMA or create any controversy surrounding the film.
