Vogue readers bashed style editor-at-large Elisabeth von Thurn und Taxi over the weekend when the German princess posted a tasteless photo of a homeless person reading the famous fashion magazine.

Thurn und Taxi posted the pic on Saturday during Paris Fashion Week with the caption, “Paris is full of surprises and @voguemagazine readers in unexpected places.” Afterwards, she was hit with complaints and comments about her photo, and Thurn und Taxi replied with, “Why cruel? The person to me is as dignified as anyone else!”

The comment resulted in even more backlash. The editor deleted the photo and replaced it with a sunny pic and a somewhat heartfelt apology.

Thurn und Taxi began her career at Vogue in 2012, and some readers believe her royal roots have left her out of touch with the magazine’s audience.

During the bashing session, many came to the 32-year-old’s defense, claiming she wasn’t wrong in capturing the moment, but should have asked the woman reading the magazine permission before posting it.
