Former Virginia Governor Bob McDonnell has maintained his innocence on corruption charges since being convicted in 2014 and sentenced to two years in prison in 2015. McDonnell announced on Tuesday that he will appeal his 11-count corruption convictions to the U.S. Supreme Court. A three-judge panel in the Fourth U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals denied his request for a rehearing. McDonnell has remained free while appealing.

McDonnell says he’s very disappointed in the latest ruling, adding that he never misused his office nor ever promised anyone anything in exchange for money.
