Black Students Are Expelled At Higher Rates Than Children Of Other Races

Black children are being dismissed at extremely high rates in comparison to other children in US classrooms. Though they only make up less than 25 percent of the student population in public schools, they account for almost half of those who are being suspended and expelled. These findings were pulled in a report from the Graduate School of Education at the University of Pennsylvania as part of the Obama administration’s efforts to lower the number of dismissals and arrests in public schools.
