Our hearts and prayers go out to the Parker and Ward family. Radio One Richmond
The family of murdered WDBJ-TV reporter Alison Parker is “numb, devastated” and finding their grief unbearable. In a statement released to the ‘Martinsville Bulletin,’ Andy Parker, the reporter’s father, says, quote, “Alison was our bright, shining light and it was cruelly extinguished by yet another crazy person with a gun.” Police say Parker and cameraman Adam Ward were shot to death while on live TV yesterday morning by former WDBJ-TV employee Vester Flanagan, known as Bryce Williams.
Virginia is mourning the loss of Alison Parker and Adam Ward. Parker and Ward were at Smith Mountain Lake doing an interview with Vicki Gardner, who was shot and remains in stable condition after surgery. A few hours later, the suspected shooter Vester Flanagan crashed on Interstate 66 in Fauquier County and was found with a self- inflicted gunshot wound. He died at a hospital a short time later.
