The 9th Annual Send-A-Kid to Camp was a huge success with donations of more than $20,000 for children in the Richmond metro area. All proceeds from Radio One Richmond stations and NBC12 Call Center donations will benefit children planning to attend Richmond Parks, Recreation and Community Facilities from June 27-August 26 at 12 centers. The great escape camps will run for nine weeks and will feature breakfast, lunch, afternoon snack, creative imagination, non-traditional sports, swimming, river exploration, art camps and much more. Learn more and register your child(ren) for  Richmond Parks and Rec camps at Richmondgov.com/parks

The Send-A-Kid to Camp radiothon is in loving memory of my godson Alexander Lance Booker. Alex loved camp and his wonderful spirit lives on through his mother Kim Jones-Booker and I. He died while at-play in 2007. This is healing for us to send kids to camp every year in Richmond and now it’s time to take it national. DONATE TO SEND-A-KID TO CAMP….All donations are tax-deductible

Thank you Radio One Richmond listeners, viewers, and social media followers, NBC12, the Enrichmond Foundation, Richmond Parks, Recreation and Community Facilities and the Alexander Lance Booker Foundation. And, big thank yous to my Radio One Richmond family  Marsha Landess, Jeff Anderson, Carrie Deane, Chris Walker, Erica Dickerson, Cam Cooper, Paris Nicole, King Tutt, Sheilah Belle, DJ Flava, DJ Drake and Lonnie B.
