Richmond, VA – The 12th Annual Stone Soul 2016 Music & Food Festival returned to the Richmond Raceway Complex under sunny skies and ninety plus degree temperatures.  Now labeled as one of Richmond’s premier music and food festivals, this year’s lineup proved to be once again successful.   This year’s special guests included some of the biggest names in Gospel, Hip-Hop and R & B including Slim Da King, Alex Scott, Livre, Canton Jones, Tasha Cobbs, Madeintyo, Dreezy, Desiigner, Chrisette Michele, Backyard Band, Dru Hill, Monica, Fabulous, 112, Lil Kim, Yo Gotti, Monica and T.I.

Kicking off with two special Stone Soul Superstar Winners, Slim Da King, and Alex Scott, Soul Stone 2016 then transitioned to the Gospel Segment with an opening prayer by Praise 104.7FM Mid-Day personality and co-host Sheilah Belle, “The Belle.”    Also sharing co-hosting duties was JR Davis who introduced Livre.  Following was an electric performance by Canton Jones, followed by powerhouse Tasha Cobbs who wasn’t feeling well, due to having her wisdom tooth pulled a couple of days earlier.

“I’m not feeling too well and I’m also on medication for the pain, but I did my best,” says Cobbs.  However by simply watching her sing and minister to the crowd, no one could tell she was in any kind of pain.  She was truly a trooper, who blessed the crowd from her first note to her last.

After her performance and a short set change, I-Power Mid-day personality Paris Nicole and Afternoon host Cam Cooper took over hosting duties, along with Kiss FM Mid-day Personality King Tutt and Community Clovia, who all introduced a music line-up heavy with Hip Hop performances with a focus towards a mature audience.

From Lil Kim who gave the audience a memorable performance, Chrisette Michele who delivered a surprise performance, Monica, who kept it classy, Dru Hill who delivered back to back Billboard Hits, Yo Gotti, who truly got the audience lit and Superstar T.I. who delivered the last performance and even got up close and personal with the crowd as he took his shirt off, which resulted in screams from all over the Classic Amphitheater with more than 7,000 in attendance, along with vendors and food outlets.

It was really an amazing evening with everyone saying, “It was the BEST Stone Soul Ever!”

Congratulations to the entire Radio One Richmond staff on a job well job!
