Teens are talking but they are just not talking to us about what stresses them. Could they really tell us that they might be addicted to drugs, alcohol or tobacco? Could they tell us that someone they know has been sold into human trafficking? Could they tell us that someone is being molested in their home or church? Could they tell us that today’s educators don’t really care about them? Could they tell us that we don’t listen? Could they tell us that they are being forced into gang-related activities? Could we handle it if they told us to tighten up? What if they told us that we, parents are the bullies? What if they told us that they hate the police because they have seen so many family members arrested? What if they told us that they don’t want to visit family members in prison? What if they told us that their stepmother or stepfather is mean to them? What if they told us that they don’t care about dying or us for that matter?
Teens are talking about these issues and lots more as Miss Community Presents the 9th Annual “Listen Up! Teens Are Talking” teen forum on Saturday, September 10, 2016 from 12 p.m.-3 p.m. This is a free event at the Trinity Family Life Center located at 3601 Dill Road in Richmond.
