Monday, October 17, 2016 was the Virginia voter registration deadline to vote in the November 8 General Election. What is interesting is the open voting registration started November 4, 2015 through October 17, 2016. However, Virginians trying to make the voter registration deadline online before 11:59 p.m. in the Commonwealth crashed the state Department of Elections’ website last night. Elections Commissioner Edgardo Cortes told ABC13 they were overwhelmed with record-high levels of activity. He said the website peaked Sunday, it was logging 350 visitors a second. By Monday evening at 5, it had already broken its record for the most amount of online registrations in Virginia in a day.
Check your voter status, poll location and view your sample ballot at the Virginia Department of Elections.
